#17 Our industrialized life

The Manufactured world: scenes of our industrialized life. We developed industry to serve our lives. Thus every year the world population is icrease. Film gave a lot of scenes about developed countries and developing countries to comepare lives between them. People are in the poor countries (India, Indonesia) live in old and small buidings, houses, and working in poisonous place (India), and do by hands. Others in wealthy country (Japan, America) have enough comfortable lives with cars, trains, etc. Thus they can save time for your job by modern machines. However, the scenes about how to have baby chickens and feed them by industrial food to supply for human. This is warning thing for human. We are depending on industry. Everything always has two faces. Industry is helpful in our modern lives, but it is killing our because a lot of chemical are made and influenced to our environment. That's why global warming is the big problem for our planet.

This sentencese means that your talent is easy to help you in your life, or you found a job is suitable with your ability you have a comfortable in life. It is assumed that it is good, however, sometimes some people don't have choice to do what he/she likes. For example, most people have talent about art. They follow their dreams to become artists. But they are poor and don't have comfortable lives. Some artists (Leonardo Da Vinci, Paul Klee, Marc Chagall,.....) became famous after they died. is poorsome of them success, others don't success. With me, I loveto be a pharmacist, but now I can't continue studying it in the US because it take me a long times and money. My parent don't afford to pay money for me.

Dear mum and dad,



The first question I want to ask you is “How are you doing?” I hope you always will be healthy to face with your busy work. I think you will be surprised when you receive this letter. Because this is the first time I write sentences to you since I came to America. We just only have conversation by telephone because nobody has time for lettering. The last time we talked about changing my major. Mum and Dad ignored changing phamarcy major to business major. Now I write hopefully these words to explain something to you.


I always understand you have been proud of me who was able to join the Medical university. In addtion, you spent a lot of money for my future to continue studying phamarcy major in the U.S. However, this time I let you feel hopless because I made decision to learn business major. When i came here, I discovered that wanting to study phamarcy in America is not easy to study. First of all I have to pass 550 IPT TOEFL scores and GMAT to learn phamarcy, but English is not my mother language because I have studied English in the U.S. for 2 years. I did not pass IPT. In the other hands, I passed 500 PPT TOEFL scores, and be able to step into university to study business major. In addition, I am 26 years old now. If I learn pharmacy in America, I have to take 8 years for studying while it take me 4 years for business. Thus the pharmacy tuation and fees are 40,000 dollar every year, but the business tuation and fees are 21,000 dollar every year. Pharmacy tuation and fees are 2 times business.

You worry our relatives and friends will laugh at our faces because when I come back our country, I just get business certificate, and it is not easy for me to find job. I think you feel sad about this. However, every major is their tools to step into social war (competition in life). I thought carefully before choosing this major. Thus, Viet Nam is the developing country. Many allien companies came and invested it. They always need people to help them develop this market. They request their labor have to have a good background knowlege to earn a lot of interests for them. With this major I can easy to find job in our country. In American society they do not care what people around them think about them. Because every one has self-life. They can do everything that they want to do. For example, when American children can choose any major they want to learn because they have to take care of themselvies when they are enough 18 years old. Similarly, nobody pays any money for me except you. You need to feel comfortable. Forgetting the thinkings from our relatives and friends.

Finally, I hope you trust and help me to finish my major. Because I made a good decision for my life. I will get succesful education to join the social war. Once time, I just want to say one sentence to you " Good healthy and happy to you."

Recalling the earthquake 7.6 magnitude in Indonesia by the sad story of a right-broken- leg boy. He was studied with sixth-grade education, unable to find job in the West Java village of 15000 people. Ralam left home, and took a construction job in the Sumatran city of Padang. On the evening of Septemper 30, he was living with 18 workers on the seventh floor, and ran for the stairway of the unfinished building because the building was shaken by earthquake that killed more than 1000 people and destroyed city. He didn't escape from this building because a wall crashed down on him. He made decision to escape by begging his wokers around him cut his right leg. One of them is a 18-year-old boy Raman accepted his words and cut his leg. After that Ralam was brought to hospital, and came over the dangerous operation.

"Research paper" is the hot topic in this entry. My professor wants to help us how to prepair this topic before joining colege or university. Last Friday we were guided which website is usful for topic. One of them is Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is really useful with to search about things you want. It gives you more and more informations and explainations is related each others. As well as I found some useful things for my topic " Traveling without smoke". I have alot of questions: Can business men earn much money without influencing to our envoronment? What do the trevelers need? What do the tourism have difficulty? Thus, this topic is helpful for me for my universial educatuon in America, but also help me find news, documents,...to know more about my major.

What do I need to choose?

Now, our professor wants his students to research paper for topic. With this topic I really don't knowbecause I love traveling, but my major is business. I just think that business is money. Money always travels around the world by do business as traveling. That's reason why I have to choose this major. I want to study international business and hotel management.
Why I choose international business and hotel management. Nowadays, a lot of allian companies came to my country to invest. They absolutely want to hire people have major about international trade. Thus, traveling is a industry without smoke. I think it is easy for me to find job in the future. But, I don't have more time to sudy both.
That's why I don't know which major I need to choose.

Discovery American food.

"American food" my friend said. I just think of Pizza, hamburger, KFC, Spaghetti. Although some peole told me that pizza, Spaghetti and hamburger are not American food, I still think of American food are them. Because I stepped my feet in America and tasted them.

The first time I ate spaghetti in my plane United Airline from my homtown to the U.S.. I felt it is terrible, and I didn't eat anymore. However, now I can only eat spaghetti is cooked by myself. Hehehehheh... Don't think that i am saying about my good cooking. I used to not to like eat pizza because of cheese. Now, sometime I remember it and I have to buy a big pizza. Hamburger, I love it. Especailly, I love IN and OUT. It's cheap and delicouse. I worry that if I finished my education and came back my country, I didn't know how to find them when i wanted to taste them.

Totally, they are food that were discovered in America by investing my future

What do you need choose between optimist and pessimist?

Why does Winston Churchillprompt say " A pessimist sees the difficult in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."? I agree with this sentence. It always goes along with us. However, pessimist and optimist depend on sittuations and humans.

why a lot of people killed their families and themselves in America now. Because they are pessimists. For example, one person feels happy with his/her life because he/she has a lot of things (money, cars, hoouses, and a good family). Suddenly, he/she is laid off and be in debt because of economic crisis. He/she feel hopless, and not be able to accept the fact ,and kills his/her family and himself/herself. However, sometimes doctors lie thier patients because they need them to optimist in their disaese and get over. For example, I had a friend died of cancer. His doctor predicted that he still lived in 6 months because of cancer. But everytime he met doctor who always said " Don't worry. With the modern technologies you will over come". Because he want my friend to optimist and against his cancer. If my friend were pessimist, he would died soon 6 months. I think optimist is necessary for our lives. That is why I am optimist.

I know that some times we see situations that make us feel the worst things. We can not control ourselves, may be do harmful things to us . Persionally, I recomend that we must believe in ourselves to sovle our troubles and think of future.

In my country, I have a best friend. We studied together from high school and have become friends. What difference and similarity are between him and me?

The first thing, I don't have to tell you. Absolutly know that we are have different about face, body.(Hi!......). However, we have the same hobbies are traveling, swimming, go fishing, and karaoke. For example, when we studied high school, we felt bored. We were absent class and went to Vung Tau by motorbike,, or other places in my country. Some times, we and our friends made party at the beach for camping and go fishing About the different things.

Both of us have the diverse lives. I love cooking, listening countryside music, watching Korean drama, and Hong Kong mobvies. He opposites to me. He hate cooking, listening countryside music, watching Korean drama. He just love action movies, beer, games. That's all about us.

Now I am studying in America and he is staying at home with his wife and 2 years old son. But we still contact together and some time tell our stories at high school.

What do animals want to speak with us?

One person asked me: "If one day animals can speak, What will they say?". " Animals are speaking with us." I said. Why do I say this sentence? Because animals have thier own world and languages to contact together, however, they are using actions as language to illustrate us to understand. They have two actions in their language with us, as well as there are the good actions and bad actions.

These actions are good. Nowaday some animals are our friends and live with our society. They understand our language. When we speak to them to ask them to do something for us, they use their language by actions (shouting, dancing, etc.) to answer us or request. For example, my dog is the best friend. When I feel sad or happy, I can speak with my dog, and he is ready to lie on love seat to listen to me. Sometimes he make crazy actions let me feel happy, or request me take him outside for walking. In addition, we use animals as security guards and magic persons. We have police dog. They have different roles in police. Some dogs are trained to find drugs, heroin. When they smell them, they will bark to police know. Other dogs are trained to attract terrorists. Some dolphins jump from water to space, or some tigers jump through the fire bars in circus shows. There are the friendly actions as language to talk with us. How about other face?


Second is the bad actions. Animals attracted us. For example, sharks sometimes attacted people at the beaches of Sandiego. Tigers killed people at villages in India. Six elephants destroyed the corn fields and more in my country. What do you think about these actions? They want to say that we are attracting their world. Nowaday, population is heigh, and we need more megacities. That is one reason which we have to destroy forests and mountains. Thus, food is consumed more and more by us. We have to kill a lot of animals. For instance, every year thousand of sharks and whales were killed for consumingin Japan. Thus, we are making polution and infuenced to sea animals. Every year thousands of oil spill in ocean and kill a lot of sea animals. The above actions to serve for our modern lives.

Totally, they want to say that we need to think about our future, and

stop the actions let they exist in this planet because we and aniamls are friends.

Sound track's life

The word "Soccer" is using in America, but British says "Football". Football is the sport that very popular around the world because people like it. " The cup of the world" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzZsTUkU-CA&feature=related was the song at Olympic 2000. I love it.

Everytime, I feel excited when I listen it ,and it recalled me a story. It happened by 1998. ASIAN football is celebrated everyyear in Asia. That day our football team won the Singapore team to step into final match. The final match would have happened between Thailand and my country(VietNam). Most people in my country were happy and excited, and they were proud of our football team from old people to young children because they could compete to get "Gold cup". That day they went outside ,sang, shouted, and brought everything (flags, post and pan, drums, etc.) to happy to win. The crowd of people using vehicles sang and shouted on the streets around cities. They looked like thousands of bees, ants got out of nest group. This event happened all night.

That is why I love this song. Sport is world peace. It doesn't have war and bring people in the world together. "Ball is Globe"

Weather

We are from other countries in the world and make friends in America. Now we are feeling the weather in CA. But some poeple satisfy, and other persons aren't pleaseant. Personally, I don't like this weather because it is hot and cold. I just love a season in my hometown is raining.

Just only has two seasons: sunny and rainy. Raining starts from the late of April to Septemper. Most people don't like raining in Ho chi minh city( my hometown) beacause they can't go anywhere, buying, selling. In the U.S people always go ouside by car, but motorbikes are popular in my country. It's easy to get wet when they go out. Some my friends told me " "Oh! I don't love it.", " I can't go with my girld friend.", or "It's extremely sad and bbbbbbbb.............boring.........." . I accepted that rain is sad. The time stops in a little second, minuites, hours, and every thing is quite. That is one of reasons I love quiet. The busy city with the sounds from motors, constructions, smoke from industry, and human actives is stopped or decreased by raining. Thus, environment is fresh and cool because a lot of trees, streets, and buildings were taken a shower. I think that is the time for city relax. When I studied the secondary school that has many trees outside, I loved watching raining at school. While it was raining, the strong winds hit trees, and thousand of things from trees as a plenty of butterflies (helicopters, or the small birds) were felling down. These images were kept in my mind. Now I don't watch raining because not rain in California.

Old Fears

Subject of this week is "old fears". Somone is afraid of death, money, love and so on. I have a secret to tell you about my fear. "What scares me?" you will ask. First of all I want to ask you : Do you beleave that we have the third world? I think some of you say "Yes", others say "No". However, almost people in my country beleave that death perons are still around us, and they invisible and ative in their society ( its name is the third world). These persons are named "ghosts and devils". That is my fear because I am araid of seeing them.

"Have you ever seen them?" I know you will ask me this question. I have never seen them. But I worry about them. When I were a child, I were afraid of sleeipng, staying at home alone. In my mind, they would appear and bring me to their world. Especailly, I don't like funerals. Everytime, myneighbors died. I had to go to other ways to get into my home. I imagined that if I went to there, they would get up and follow me. However, I really like watching ghost films and horror movies. Now it doesn't fear me.

I think everyone has a fear. We will comover fairs. For example, now I live far my parent and this problem disappeared because sometimes nobody sleeps in my house with me.

#2 Getting around

I have been living in the U.S for 1.5 years. I accepted that the constructions about roads is best in the world. For example, freeway is one of the best constructions in America. People can drive on it without traffic light and their speed is 60 to 70 mph (120km/h-150km/h). However, what do think about the public transportation in the U.S? It has two faces.

First of all it is good. In America almost people have cars, but more and more persons don't have. For example, many old people and poor persons don't have driver license as youth guys and me. They are able to to go markets, shops, hospital by taking public transportation. In addition to using transportation we can save money because we don't have to pay gas, insurance every month. Now polution and global warming are the big problem for human. They want to prevent these problems not only for our but also for our future generations. That's why We must decrease using individual vehicles ,and use public transportation. This is good public transportation's face.

Another face of it is worst. You have to depend on schedule and waste time. for instant, California where I am studying and living. Everyday I get up at 5 AM because I must take 2 buses to go to school to study at 8AM. If i miss one of two buses, I will be late. Sometimes i must go to doctor or Vietnamese markets. The bus take me 4 or 5 hours up and down. In addition, we are limited weight. We want to buy a lot of food and TV or printer, but You can't because it is heavy and you must take. That is one of reasons people want to have car.

My name is THAO or can call TONY. I am very happy to study this class with you. I think you want to have information about me. First of all, I come from one of countries in ASIA that is the second-exported-rice country in the world is Viet Nam. In addition, I am a youngest member of a family with 4 persons. My major is businness. My hobbies are watching TV, traveling. Thus traveling is my dream and one reason that I choose studying Business in America. However, I think you will ask me Why I choose America to study, but not another country. Because a university certificate in the U.S is easy for anybody to find job anywhere in the world. A lot of questions but no answer

Today is May 12. I have just come back home from my school. I feel sad and a lot of questions in my mind. Today I had the presiontation for pronunciation class. One of my friends in my class standed in front of class with her article is " Love". She said that when she said Love, everyone just thought romantic (man and woman). However, love is global. Love is relationships between members of family, friends, male and female. She said that the big love was family. Now she lives far from her parent. She knew what is love. She miss her family so much, especaily is her mother. She cried a lot. In that time, I felt sad and I wanted to cry more and more with her because I would feel better, but I couldn't. I had to keep my sadness in my heart. It's very hurt.
Nowadays, I don't know I decided to study in the U.S. and left my old parent in my country to find a good future for me after having certificate is good or bad. Before I came here, some my friends didn't agree with my decision. They said that " You are a crazy and stupid person ,and ice person. Your parent love you so much, and you will inherite their property." With me, I never think about property. I just want to have a good knowlege to looking for a good job ,and don't want to depend on my parent. But my everything is theirs. Because I will not have any chances to study in America if my parent don't have money. Now my mum is bronken arm and my dad has just got over the dangerous heart operation. Nobody looks after them because they have only two children (my sister and I) .When my father was in hospital, he said to my mum " Don't tell our son if I can't come over. Let him feel happy to study." I heart the sentences from my sister (she lives in the U.S with her husband) after my father had felt good. She want me to come back Vietnam to take care of them. I felt sad and hurt. But I can not cry because of my decision. Sometimes I asked myself " Do you think you chose a good way?" , and I answered "I don't know". "I just think simply everyone is a ship. Ship will face with storms in the ocean when it wants to sail to good places for parking." Do you think I am selfish? I just think about myself. Every country has differrent culture. Parents' repondsibility in the U.S takes care of their children when their children are enough 18. However, in Asia and especially in my country. Parent always look after their children when they still live. For example, my friend asked another partner in IBT TOFLE class " If you must choose between your wife and your mother, who will you choose?" He answered " Mother", "Because I can find another wife but i can't find my mum." My IBT teacher said " When American person is under 18, he says that he will choose mum because he still need money. But when he was 18, he will answer wife. Because wife lives with him is longer than mother and has children with him." That's why every children in every country feel their parents' love are different. I have a lot of questions " What will I do? Do I continue catching my ambition or come back hometown to take care of my parent?" I know these are my biggest questions in my life. Nobody has the answers for me. I am the only person is able to find answers for me. Because these big questions depend on me and time. I question myself " Do you make sure If you choose ambition, you will be successful? Will you repent? I just answer " Time answers me." Because every parent want their children to be happy and succesful in the future. "If you choose come back, you will loose your future but you don't repent."

In this spring semester, about my writing i can't improve. Although this semester my teacher gave a good idea about writing something on blog. I can use my brainstorm to write and don't care about making mistake grammar, composition ( introduction, body, conclusion). It is useful for me because English is my second language not mother langague. My words limited. But in my composition class. I think really hard for me to write an essay not thinking by my mother language and translate to English because some articles are difficult and i must use my own langue to tranlate. Addition about my translated sentences do not mean as Amecian sentences. I need my teacher to guide me how to correct the sentences. When readers read, can understand my writing. I know this class is composition not gramma. However, from them I can inprove my writing. Everyone on their life has mistakes. And from experiecing mistakes they can develop. I don't know about my teacher's feeling when he/she reads this. But if they think that they don't satisfy with this. I am Sorry Sorry Sorry. My country has sentence " Medicine is not sweet but good for health. Truth will make angry to people."

#14 Plastic surgery

When some people were born, they satisfied with their body from their parents. But some people unsatisfied. Having more and more reasons why people want to change their body. Al most poeple require plastic surgery are female, gays, or lesbians. For example, nowadays, more and more gays do plastic surgery to become female in contrast lesbians become male. Or some women not satisfied with thier face and they want to change. The plastic surgery from men to women or contrary is dangerous. because they have short lives. I used to travel in Thailand. I watched a dancing show that were played by women (gays became female). I asked one gay some questions: "How old are you?" and "when you became female, how do you feel?". He/she told me that he/she was 23 years old. He/she felt comfortable, but he was still live in 20 years.Because they have to use medicine everyday. But the plastic sugery on face is normal. I am from Asia. A lot of Asian people believe in fortunes and fortune teller. After they changed something on thier face, some people are from poor become rich or rich become poor. But I think this plastic surgery (normal) is not as dangerous as plastic surgery( from male to female or contrary). Do you believe in fortunes? do something if you want.

#13 Agree or disagree same sex get married?

Nowadays, more and more the arguments in the world about the same sex get married. Some poeple agree, some people disagree.
Some people disagree. they think the living together in the same sex is the illigal thing in natural society. That means they accept female and male have relationships and have our generations in the future. And the same sex can't. Psychologists said that gay (les) was a socail desease. They have the difficulties in psychology. And this is still big question.
Some people agree. They think that the same sex get married is normal. Because they are human. They need human rights. They want people around them accept them. When every parent have a child, they always want their child to look like every child. And the sam sex people want to be other people. They need the normal life. They want to have relationship with opposite sex and have children, but they can't. because they are not able to control thierselves. They don't know why. They can't find a good answer for them. I think this problem will be the argument in our society for a long time. The question doesn't have the answer.

The subject " the girls ask boys out?". I think the girls need to do this. Women always think that men are strong and men must do this because it is boys' role in the society. Women are nervous and not strong. If the girls ask the boys out, it is not the girls' role and why they must do that. This is the big mistake for women. In the 21 century, everthing between men and women is the same. That''s why the women need to ask men out. For example, a girl loves a boy, she is enough strong tell her feeling to the boy. She thinks this role is his.I think she has 1 percent of chance if she tell him. By contrast. she never has ocasion. She must keep happyness. Don't let the opportunity skip.

Spring break!
This spring break, I went to San Diego to visit my relative. In there have a lot of places to view. I went to San Diego zoo, beach. But I don't like the city that my relative live. This city is dirty and streets in here are narrow. Every night I hear the sound of the helicopters. In there a lot of people buy and sell drugs. The day I went to home, I went to that place to take the bus to comback here. I saw police cover the street near the place I take the bus. Because some people is killed. Maybe I am used to live in Orange county. Everything in here is good. The streets are big. That's all about my spring break.

Last year I followed the soccer match between Viet Nam and Thailand at Seagames 20 that was celerbrated in Asian everyyear. This is the first time my country won Thailand after 20 years. Everyyear my country just got silver medal and Thailand won gold medal. When Viet Nam won the gold medal at Seagame 20, I was really happy. The happening match was exciting for audience. Both of team were socre 0-0, and the 89 minutes of match my home teams got score 1-0. Finally, Viet Nam won Thailand and got the first gold medal after 20 years.

Nowaday I want to travel anywhere because I feel exausted. Maybe I need relax. Traveing will help me comfortable. I love traveling. When I travel, I can meet a lot of people and improve my English. I can see some place that is beautiful and I can taste different food in the US. In spring break, I want to travel from Orange County to Big Sur is my plan. When I searched the places in California for traveling, I saw the pretty sights on Internet that are attractive. However, I want to go there with my friends and share the happy and sad things with me.

Nowaday television (TV) is very popular for almost everybody because it is a kind of intertainment for people. Having a lot of programs from TV and one of them that I often watch is program " How to study English by yourself". This program is useful for me to study English because it guides me about pronunciation, new words, grammar. This program shows all day everyweekend. This is the education program for immigrant people and international students. I want to share this program with every people in my class.

I was really hopless because I was not able to join at Magic Mountain. Last Friday was my terrible day. My heart was not good and I lyed in my bed from Friday to Saturday. I was really sad. I wished I had felt better to join at Magic Mountain. Some people think they are able to buy everything if they have a lot of money. In my mind, money can not buy health. Health is everything.

when you live other strange place, you will have a lot of difficult problems. And me, I'm studying and living in the US. The first time, I came here. I felt strange. Everything aruond me is very strange. I must learn how to take the bus from my house to school, market, and mall. Because I need a lot of things for myself. I have to cook the vietnamese food by myself. because no family lives with me. Beside the most difficult thing for me is English. For example, when I went to DMV to test driver licens. I tried to speak English to them but they did't make sense me and me did't understand what they were talking about. That's why I want to speak English smoothly.

Mypet

I think many people love pet the same me because they are loyal and the best friend of people. Anytime you need the best friend, certainly they are your best friends. For example, I talk a lot to my pet when I feel sad, because he keeps secret. He always listens to me and never says “boring”. Sometimes he makes me feel happy by doing crazy things. In Addition, pets always are loyal. They always stay at home to protect everything in your houses, or ready to do anything to help you meet dangerous situation. For instance, I usually stayed at home with my dog because my parents went working when I was 10 years old. One neighbor got into my home. He wanted to get everything in my house, however my dog tried to fight him by biting him so much to protect me and my house. Now I miss him so much when I am living in the U.S.

I think you know "Super Bowl XLIII" on February 1, 2009 while you are living in the U.S. It's the American football. On that day I stayed at my home and watched that match with people living with the same house. The match happened so exciting between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals. The first half time of the match Steelers got score 17-7. And a lot of Cardinals audience were sad. After continueing the second time of match they felt happy for Cardinals because they scored 23-20. However, in the final time of match the Steelers scored 27-23 and won. Admiring people of Cardinals were hopless. That's the first time that I watched football. I tried to understand the rules of football and I made sense. Everyteam has 50 yards from the middle match yard, and has 4 times to keep the ball and attack in anotherteam goal. Everyattacking is 10 yards. If they can't get over 10 yard in 4 times, the ball will be given to anotherteam. Oppositely they can run to the goal, they get score was called "touchdown". That's all I know about football.

My English name is Tony (about my native name is Thao D Le). I come from VietNam.I have the happy family. My family comprises four people (parents, a older sister, and me). Now just only me live with my parents because my sister got married.
How about my pursuits. I want to speak smoothly English to communicate with American people . And I want to study university in the U.S.
